Instant download — how it works

  1. Check out. Your download button appears on the next page and in your email.

  3. Setup takes about 5 minutes. Then log each money move in one place.

Full details

Did I pay that? When is it due? What is coming up this week? This simple bill tracker answers all three. List each bill once, log a payment when you pay, and see every bill on a calendar: paid, due soon or overdue. Light and dark versions are both included.

You type each bill one time: the name, the amount, how often and the first due date. The sheet repeats it for the whole year by itself. When you pay, add one row with the date, the bill and the amount; it finds the due date on its own. Bills on autopay count as paid on their due date, so there is nothing to log for them. No locked cells.

WHAT YOU GET · 5 FILES

  • Bill-Tracker.xlsx: your blank tracker (light), with common bill categories and accounts already filled in
  • Bill-Tracker-Dark.xlsx: the same blank file in dark mode
  • Bill-Tracker-EXAMPLE.xlsx and Bill-Tracker-Dark-EXAMPLE.xlsx: the same file filled with a made-up household, so you can click around first
  • Bill-Tracker-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf (4 pages): which file to open, the 3 steps, 7 simple rules with example rows, questions and answers, and your Google Sheets "Make a copy" links (light and dark)

8 TABS

  • Start Here: three steps and short tips, with links to every tab
  • Setup: the year and your currency symbol, how many days count as "due soon", a late window, whether autopay counts as paid, the accounts you pay from and your bill categories
  • Dashboard: pick a month and see what is due, what is paid and what is still to pay; what is overdue right now; the next 7 and 14 days; autopay vs manual; the next bill to pay; a 12-month chart of due vs paid; a month-by-month record; totals by category and by account
  • Calendar: pick a month and see every bill on its due date. ✔ paid, ⚠ overdue, ● due soon, and today in red.
  • Bills: one row per bill with category, amount (or tick Varies), how often, first due date, autopay, pay from, an optional last due date and a website or note. Next due date, status, times this year, year total and overdue count fill themselves. 100 rows ready.
  • Payments: one row per payment with the date paid, the bill, the amount, an optional due date, a confirmation number and a note. It shows the due date the payment counts for and whether it was on time. 600 rows ready.
  • Year View: every due date of the year in date order, with the amount, what was paid, the date you paid and its status. Up to 1,000 due dates a year.

Plus a Lists tab that fills the drop-downs by itself (no need to touch).

7 WAYS A BILL CAN REPEAT

  • Monthly
  • Every 2 weeks
  • Weekly
  • Quarterly
  • Every 6 months
  • Yearly
  • One-time

Type the first due date and the bill repeats on the same day of the month (or the same weekday) for the whole year. A bill that ends? Type its last due date.

WHY IT'S SIMPLE

  • One place to type each thing: bills once, payments as you go.
  • Paid a few days late? It still counts for the due date you missed, and shows how many days late.
  • Bills that change every month (electric, credit card): type a guess and tick Varies. What you pay replaces the guess.
  • Autopay bills mark themselves as paid on their due date. Prefer to log them? One switch in Setup.
  • Overdue bills turn red on the Dashboard, the Calendar and the Year View, so nothing slips by.
  • Nothing is locked. No passwords, no macros. Click any grey cell to see its formula.
  • No video needed. The Start Here tab and the 4-page guide cover everything.

LIGHT AND DARK

  • Both versions are in this listing, with the same tabs and the same formulas. Pick the one you like.
  • Light: a soft cream page. Type in the white boxes with a thin border.
  • Dark: every tab is dark, the chart too. Type in the boxes with a thin border. Made for the screen: printing a dark tab uses a lot of ink.
  • In both, grey cells fill themselves.

FROM THE EXAMPLE FILE

Made-up numbers, an example only. A household with 18 bills, from rent and daycare to a weekly dog walker and a one-time dentist bill, with payments from January to October 2026. On October 20, 9 of the 17 due dates in October are paid, 2 bills are overdue, and the next bill to pay is due tomorrow. Your numbers will be different.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. After checkout, click the download button on your order confirmation page. The same download link is also in your order confirmation email.
  2. Open the quick-start guide. Use a Google Sheets link to make your own copy (light or dark), or open a blank .xlsx in Excel.
  3. List your bills, about 5 minutes: name, amount, how often, first due date.
  4. When you pay a bill, add one row in Payments.
  5. Check the Dashboard and the Calendar any time: what is paid, what is due soon, what is overdue.
